Investing in the Future
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops...” Proverbs 3:9–10
“He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me...” Psalm 50:23
Our Vision
The Andrew G. Patten Center for Leadership Development is more than a building! It will be a 21st Century Nerve Center, empowered by prayer and focused on four strategic initiatives to meet many needs.
• Worship...will take place on Sunday mornings in the multi-purpose worship center / gymnasium. This same room will host outreach events, concerts, and sporting events. Gatherings can be as large as 700 people in one setting.
• Personal Discipleship...where pre-teen through adults have a state of the art facility to be encouraged, equipped, mentored and sent out to impact their world with the Gospel. It will feature a Resource Center for student interns and a monitored online training program.
• Leadership Development...where “next generation” leaders are recruited, equipped, mentored and sent out to impact the kingdom. The Center will focus on the development of leaders spiritually and educationally by partnering with colleges and/or seminaries to provide under-grad and/
or graduate programs of learning. It will sponsor leadership conferences featuring outstanding Christian leaders in the areas of government, finances, athletics and the church.
• Global Impact...where “next generation” leaders are identified and challenged to invest their lives in third-world leaders toward ministry multiplication. Networking with community and missional agencies, the Center will look to form partnerships that have a Great Commission purpose and a Great Commandment heart!
The Andrew G. Patten Center for Leadership Development will position Maywood Evangelical Free Church on the front lines of training “next generation” leaders until Christ returns! Your investment will keep on giving long after you are gone!
Dear Maywood Family:
God is at work in some awesome and mighty ways here at Maywood Evangelical Free Church. Four years ago, our congregation began building the Andrew G. Patten Leadership Center for the glory of God. During that time more than $1,120,000 has been raised in cash, and many volunteers have been involved, sacrificing time and donating materials to continue the project. All of this has been done in uncertain and turbulent economic times! And your generous giving pleases our God!
During the past year “Above and Beyond” giving has continued to gain momentum. Our vision has been refined and a master site plan developed, making the Patten Center the anchor building on our property and connecting it in functionally with our current building which makes it even more ministry strategic!
Over the next twelve to thirty-six months we believe that we can finish the task God has committed to our trust. This incredible ministry tool will serve as a nerve center for leadership, evangelism, worship and outreach to our community.
Please prayerfully read through the pages of our “Above and Beyond” (Part 2) brochure. Ask God to lead you in your new or renewed “Above and Beyond” faith-promise commitment for the next one- or three-year period!
Commitment Sunday is May 22nd! Join me in trusting God to go “Above and Beyond” our expectations as we fulfill the vision He has placed in our hearts!
I’m rejoicing in the Lord,
Dr. John R. Strubhar, Pastor
Faith-Promise Commitment for the next 12 or 36 months
A faith-promise commitment is trusting God to provide you with resources to invest in developing “Next Generation” Leaders for the kingdom. Your faith promise is between you and God. No one will ever call to collect or follow up with you about it. It is an “Over and Above” commitment to your faithful giving of tithes and offerings to the General Operating Budget of Maywood Evangelical Free Church. You may choose to give weekly, monthly or annually over a 12-month or 36-month period of time beginning June 5, 2011.
Above & Beyond Part 2 Campaign Goal: $1,300,000

New Dedicated Children's Area
Our desire is to create an exciting, kid-friendly atmosphere where discipleship comes to life. Through the development of a Bible Town theme, depicting a first century Jerusalem setting, our children will not only learn of the Gospel but also learn to live its message out in their daily lives. Parents can rest assured knowing that the highest guidelines are being kept for the safety of their children through a secured area and electronic check-in system. Also, this area will host its very own Children’s Resource Center and will be updated with the latest materials. As a result of these changes, this new children’s area will not only be up-to-date but allow for more effective ministry to take place.
